BUILDING FOR AMERICA'S BRAVEST CONCERT

Tampa, Florida -- Famous for playing double-amputee Lt. Dan Taylor, actor Gary Sinise come to Tampa to launch a drive to build homes for America's wounded warriors.

On Friday, May 10, 2013 the "Forrest Gump" actor and CSI: New York star performed a fundraising concert with his band, the Lt. Dan Band, at Curtis Hixon Park in Downtown Tampa. The concert raised money for "Building for America's Bravest," an effort to build high-tech "smart houses" for a dozen of our country's most severely injured service members during 2013.

Sinise's foundation teamed up with Frank Siller and Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support the project and raise the approximately $500,000 needed to construct each home.

In an event at Heroes Plaza in Downtown Tampa, Sinise announced that the first home of 2013 will be constructed for South Tampa's Sgt. Mike Nicholson. Nicholson lost an arm and both legs in an IED blast while serving in the Marine Corps in Afghanistan a year and a half ago.

In the almost 20 years since his role as Lt. Dan in "Forrest Gump," Sinise has stayed devoted to the cause of helping severely wounded veterans.
