The Patriot Soil Flag, meticulously handcrafted by Gettysburg Flag Works, stands as a tribute unlike any in American history. Each embroidered star will eventually hold a sealed clear vial of soil gathered from veterans’ resting places within that state, blended with a small sample collected from more than 2,000 graves at Arlington National Cemetery. Together, these elements create a lasting connection to generations of service members, honoring their final resting places with enduring reverence.
From the earliest battles for independence to modern-day conflicts overseas, this sacred soil reflects the sacrifices made throughout every chapter of our nation’s military history. This flag does not distinguish between titles or ranks—it pays tribute to everyday Americans who displayed extraordinary courage. Every element woven into it stands as a tangible symbol of the selflessness and unwavering dedication of our nation’s veterans.
Designing The Flag
525Designs, located in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, is owned by Courtney, whose talent and generosity play an important role in the Patriot Soil Flag project. Volunteering her time and resources, she has helped bring the flag to life through detailed craftsmanship and care.
This is the same flag from Gettysburg Flag Works shown above, further connecting the project to a trusted source of American-made flags and craftsmanship.
Courtney has meticulously embroidered the abbreviation of each state beneath each star representing that state, adding a unique and meaningful touch that reflects unity and honors those who served from across the nation. This is what makes the flag truly unique—each embroidered state corresponds directly to a vial of soil collected from that state.
The soil has been gathered from veteran resting places within each respective state, collected with care and deep respect. Each sample represents the service and sacrifice of those laid to rest there, creating a powerful connection between the land and the individuals who served. The clear vials are tethered beneath their matching stars, ensuring accurate state identification while preserving the significance of each contribution.
